Poem: Letting Go

Letting Go

I thought I glimpsed in you
a thing so sweet and pure...
endearing to the heart
 as babies’ smiles can be.

I held close that illusion,
kept it safe - secure-

 still, the truth was there
and  struggled to be free.

I pushed away all doubts.
Tuned out unwanted vibes.
I culled through all your words
and kept a few to treasure.

I never lost the faith.
I never gave up trying,
or hoping that the pain
 would be outweighed by pleasure.

Sleep, now, is slow in coming,

still, when it comes you’re there,
 until- again- behind
your armored walls you flee!

Just as you are in daylight-
enclosed in walls of stone-

 the doorway hidden well,
so no one can see.

I feel the time is nearing
when I must set you free...
to let go of my dreams
and all of my illusions.

My days, I find, are muddled.
My mind is in a whirl!
…So weary of this pain
and living in confusion.

Poem: "Fantasy"

~

Fantasy

I put my feelings on the line.
I put my heart out, in plain view.
I lavished love, so willingly...
the only way I knew.

Defenses left along the way.
In shattered heaps they’re lying, still.
And what was me
- my heart , my soul -
was there for you to fill.

I put my all, there on the line.

My past I left, without a care.

Mountains crossed and bridges
burned...
all on a hope and prayer.

That hope and prayer are flimsy now.

The love I nurtured, has been stilled.

The dream was mine - a fantasy -
  not meant to be fulfilled.

Poem_ "Tears"

(posted on FB)
‎~Poem~

Tears

Tears to scald my eyes
keep coming, uninvited!
Pain to sear my heart-
invading, unexpected!

Words to wound my soul
keep flowing, flowing ever
from the one I’ve loved for always,
faithfully!

Hurt, so deep and dark,
mistrust forever growing,
doubt forever showing,
love-our love- escaping.

My Love-is our love leaving…
as lost as sleep we’re missing,
lying close -not touching-
but tossing sleeplessly?

    • Life is a mix of Happy and SAD moments and we experience all of it if we live long enough! Strangely, tho, the sad times often come early in life and things 'even-out ' as we get older!
      :)
      ...THAT'S a cheery thought - yes?? :)

Poem: About Love

About Love

I once was a child, so long ago,
and made the mistakes of youth…
though I searched and longed for perfect love,
was slow recognizing the truth…

that love is an illusion.
It can't always be perfect and pure…
can never be all you dreamed of…
has no guarantee to endure.

In love, you may see many faces.
It’s true it sometimes can be grand
and may last throughout your lifetime;
so, capture it- if you can!

Don’t ever take love for granted,
for love is a living thing…
living and growing - or dying,
whichever the fates may bring.

The End Of A Day

The end of a day~

the end of our time~
the slipping away~
the leaving behind...

The loose ends untied,
all tattered and frayed;
uncertainty builds,
as trust is betrayed.

Holding on tight,
but floundering, still;
not wanting to know
the sorrow I feel.

The end of our time
at the end of this day~
the leaving behind~
the slipping away...

Poem: Fantasy and Reality

~~~
Fantasy and Reality
Where fantasy ends - reality begins.
Let me find that place and start anew.
When make believe  dies and all hope ends,
let me  accept the loss and make it through.
Life’s journeys will take us far and wide.
Uncharted roads can render blind...
and we are enticed down
paths,
unknown...
regardless of what we leave behind.
  With passing time this fantasy
reveals it’s face as false and trite,
lacking substance and lacking truth;
blurring lines of wrong and right.
Let me find a shred of the real me, still,
enough to build and restore again;
to recapture me as I was before.
Let me come  full circle  - in the end.
Brenda's Photo Challenge! Poem: Halloween Witch
~~~

Halloween Witch

She rides through the night
by the light of the moon,
the Halloween Witch,
on her magical broom!

And always beside her
the black cat will stay,
to help with the mischief
and tricks she will play.

They're partners in mischief
who fly through the night,
causing much trouble
and causing much fright!

If you're out on this night,
I warn you, "Beware!"
They're sure to be waiting
to give you a scare!

Watch out for those two!
They are sure to be seen,
out, making their mischief
on this Halloween!

Poem: We Won't Have This Day Again

~~~
~~~

We Won’t Have This Day Again

The summer days are swiftly passing.
Another fall will soon be here.
Winter enters, with a flurry,
and soon is gone - another year!

As we age, the years seem shorter.
In a flash, the days go by.
We come to know our limitations -
if not all the reasons why!

We pick and choose our undertakings…
the things we do from day to day.
We try to fill the empty spaces,
of what we’ve missed along the way.

We know, fully, time is fleeting,
with no way to reign it in!
We take each day and what it offers!
We won’t have this day again!

Poem: Reflections

...This little poem - though, not correct in form- says a lot about the changes in our lives...

Reflections

These days I seldom witness
children lying in the grass,
gazing skyward, making figures of the clouds.

This is of the past!

Flowers of the meadow,
mostly, go un-noticed and un-picked.
Lost now, to the masses!
Replaced by games - hand-held-
of flickering figures, fighting, flickering figures!

What a trick!

Is summer still enticing,
with sprinklers slinging water in luscious swirls?
With children dressed in summer garb
to frolic, roll and tumble;

Was this another world?

Do families still take meals together,
with all TV screens and games shut down, momentarily?
Is there sharing of the happenings of the day, of one and all?
Sadly, I would have to say,

” No, not ordinarily!”

Pondering

~~~
This is nothing to do with Christmas...nothing to do with anything at all- just some random thoughts I've had recently.
~~~

Isn’t life strange?

It escapes me completely, sometimes...
Still, at times I think I have a handle on things...JUST SOMETIMES... not often enough to make a difference, really!

The people who enter into my life are a mystery ...a puzzle never to be completed. Some of the essential pieces are missing... chewed up and swallowed by the hounds of times passed!

A safe, cool, calm place is where I, so, long to be!

Yet, here am I, caught up in working puzzles with missing pieces!

Poem: Replaced

Replaced

Replaced…the sunshine with the gloom.
Replaced…the brightness with the rain.

Replaced…the laughter with my tears.
Replaced…the pleasure with the pain.

Replaced…the trust
and all the dreams and plans…

with nothing more than
sandcastles in the sand.

Poem: My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose ( Robert Burns )

My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose

by Robert Burns

My love is like a red red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
My love is like the melodie
That’s sweetly play’d in tune.

So fair (are you) art thou, my (beautiful darling, sweetheart) bonnie lass,
So deep in love am I;
And I will love (you) thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas (gone) gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
And I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And (farewell to you) fare thee weel, my only love
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my love,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.

I took this rose bud picture today and just had to use it with this poem!

Oh!! I love my camera and I love my iphoto program!!

And I LOVE my roses!! ;)
